Finland & Norway Arctic Circle
PRIVATE TOURS WITH SCHEDULED DEPARTURES
Travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path destinations will love Northern Norway and Finnish Lapland and will love this cruise and land combo through the Arctic Circle. With overnight stays in memorable and incredible spots, this trip is an ideal getaway for a week with a mix of gorgeous landscapes and small city cultures.
This itinerary focuses on Norway’s wild northern coast and Finland’s Lapland, which offers quite a deal of history and culture along with outdoor activity opportunities. Tromsø, nicknamed ‘Paris of the North, traverses the Norwegian Arctic and experiences a number of natural and cultural sites. It also happens to be Northern Norway’s largest city. From here, we board a luxury cruise ship for 1 night and 2 days and we sail towards the ends of the earth, off a coast that is as far north as it is possible to get on the continent of Europe. Each day ends with another opportunity to view the Northern Lights in this beautiful and remote part of the world. Meet the indigenous Sami people and encounter a hotel made of snow along the Norwegian/Finnish border. Finland and Norway are the perfect destinations for travelers keen on seeing the Northern Lights. Take part in a wide range of activities, take photos, and explore the villages on foot. One that shouldn’t be missed is the Northern Lights chase, where you’ll end the night with a campfire and hot chocolate.
* The northern lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
When to go for a Dog & Reindeer Sledding Experience
There are many ways to immerse yourself in and enjoy northern Norway’s winter landscape, and the most memorable is behind a team of huskies and Reindeer sledding over snow-bound wilderness. One will enjoy ice-covered lakes and unparalleled views of mountain peaks as adventurous seekers try these immersive sledding excursions during the winter. Dog sledding is widely offered in Tromsø, Alta, Karasjok, Kirkenes, and Rovaniemi in Finland. One does not need experience to participate. Instructions from experienced guides will be given before you head out with your team. Children are most welcome to join, though age limits do apply for kids interested in driving their sleds. Dog sledding needs plentiful snow cover, which varies by location.
